So we both played hooky and left work early today for another prenatal visit. This one was for genetic testing. No, we were not testing to find out if we are having a boy or girl, that will be a suprise in about 6 months. These tests are supposed to check for major problems and risk factors for major diseases, etc. Of course, no genetic screening visit would be complete without mug shots of Katie’s little belly critter.
So…. Here’s BOB!
Amazing!!! The blurry pictures now actually look like a baby. In the shot above, his head is on the left. You can see his back bone and his little legs sticking straight up. In the picture below, the sono-technician (Wendy) zoomed way in so she could look at his cute little nose. In that photo, his head is on the right, facing up. I was told that he takes after his dad, seeing how he has a big head. I don’t get it.
He was moving all over the place, dancing for us during the ultrasound, waving his little arms and kicking his little legs. We were in awe as we watched his heart beating on the screen. Then he fell asleep. We got an extra long show on the ultrasound screen. While BOB was curled in a little ball and resting, Wendy was trying to get him to turn around and straighten out so she could get a picture of his back. The whole thing took around 30 minutes. Truly, one of the best half hours of my life. Absolutely incredible.
One more thing… folks have pointed out how we refer to “BOB” as he. No, we don’t know the baby’s sex. No, we don’t want to know. We just had to pick a pronoun because we don’t want to refer to our child as it and neither of us can stand writing he/she every time. And no, we aren’t naming our child Bob (or Roberta). “BOB” is short for Big ‘ol Belly (or Baby on Board if you ask Katie).
