In Bloom

The bush in front of our house always blooms early in the season.  It made for a lovely late afternoon backdrop for another Belly Shot.

Kate - Belly Shot 3/16/2009

We have 5-6 weeks to go until the due date.    Of course, almost everyone we talk to expects Katie to deliver late.  Our sister-in-law, Sarah, has predicted 5 days late and 8 lbs, 3 oz.  So that has inspired us to create our Baby Bets page.

We want your bets on the baby:

  • What (boy / girl)
  • When (on-time / # days early / # days late)
  • How much (birth weight – lbs and oz – NO METRIC!)
  • Hair Length (None: Bald to 1/2 inch, Some: 1/2 inch to 1 inch, Lots: more than 1 inch)

The person who guesses closest wins a $250 gift card and gets to pick the baby’s name.

OK, not really.  There’s no money involved and there’s no way that I would let you name my baby Clyde or Marge.  Therefore, the prize is limited to bragging rights and a free cat.

Start sending in your bets by posting comments (click here if you aren’t sure where to do that).  After we’ve received a few, I’ll compile them into a list (charts and graphs!) so we can all see who the smartest (luckiest) blog reader is.

READY SET GO!

Your Aunt Marge and I were disappointed that we couldn’t provide some input into naming the baby.

Boy (just because only 1 of the 5 people that I know who know the sex of their babies on the way is actually having a girl so something must be in the water around the country)

April 20th because that’s the best birthdate in the world (of course it’s mine!) And as much as I don’t want both developers out at the same time I think it would be kinda cool for Your baby and the Agnihotri baby to share a birthday with each other and me! And that’s a week early for Katie’s comfort! :-)

    7lbs 14oz 21in

    reddish/blone fuzz for hair

    I’m so glad it’s not a money bet. I’m a terrible gambler!

What: Boy (kinda weird if it wasn’t since you have already name it BOB and you always refer to BOB as a “he.”)
    When: Late, 5-6 days late.
    How much: 7lbs. 6oz.
Hair length: Some 1/2 inch to 1 inch. (Gotta have some becuase of Ben!)

Congrats you guys! Glad everyone is healthy! I can’t wait to see BOB!

    Love ya!

    I am thinking a boy.
I am feeling about 9 days early.
    I am guessing around 8lbs 2oz.
    And nearly hairless.

    T-Minus 1 month!!!!

Fo’ sho’ it is a boy.
I guess that he is coming 8 days early (just had to Price is Right Elinore’s guess there).
I have no idea about weight. How about 1 ounce higher than Elinore’s guess.
Hair. Don’t care about length, but for sure he will be blond.

Take that BOB (Barker) and stick it!

My posts are working. Is this thing on?

    I think it’s a girl…MARTHA CORRINE

Will be about seven days early.

    No hair.

    Weight will be 8 lbs.10z.

Will be the most beautiful baby ever BORN !!!!

  11. Aunt AJ | March 19, 2009 at 11:51 pm | Permalink

OK- wow – well my gut says girl but that picture screams BOY! So, huh… well I will just stick with what I have been saying all this LONG time- girl. She will arrive early but not much – maybe 3 days. She will have just a little hair- more than Milo- about what Lola had but not a head full of hair. And it will be light brown- (after it is washed that is- it will look darker in the hospital) Weight- 7 lbs 2 oz. Will be one of the luckiest babies ever born to have such great parents!

For Katie’s sake, I’m going with 2wks early….girl (Ben deserves a Lucy!!!!), 6.5lbs and “some” blonde hair (don’t you all know Ben was a child blondie???…I guess mom eventually got tired of bleaching). Hopefully no beard.
hoo, this game is fun! Purple wil be her favorite color, she’ll love to throw “my little ponies” at Turk, and the cat will scratch her in the face an average of 3.4 times per month before the cat is finally banished to the outdoors.

I like this game, especially when it is not my child in question.

Girl – because everyone I’ve ever known ever has had boys with maybe two exceptions, so a girl is way overdue (because THAT’S a deciding factor)

Do we get an over-under on the date? I’m gonna say ummmmm, 1-2 days late

8 lbs 14 oz if she is late, 7 lbs 15 oz if she is on time (since there is no monies involved, I am feeling free to hedge my bets)

1/2 to an inch of hair, lighter shade, but not terribly blonde

She will be born in the middle of the day, the labor will be exhausting but not too long by today’s standards. It will be a beautiful spring day, with a threat of showers, but nothing major on the precipitation front

Ben will make at least one inappropriate comment during labor, but will be completely focused and level-headed during delivery. He will be struck speechless for quite some time after delivery

The baby will be named something that has not been a significant front-runner on the list of names, and only after you have both gotten a good look at her. She will basically let you know what her name is once you see her

You can keep the cat, Shannon’s allergic and I enjoy having her in the house

I think it’s a boy, and if it’s anything like the rest of the Coate boys, it will come just a few days late.

    Date: April 30
    Weight: 7 lbs 9 oz.
Hair: a tiny bit of very blonde hair

  15. Stephanie Kerr | March 27, 2009 at 12:29 pm | Permalink

WE CAN’T WAIT for you guy to experience the joys and tiredness of a newborn. You forget everything good and bad once you see your little bundle of joy. Trust me, after about 29 hours of labor (counting the contractions at home) I wouldn’t regret it one bit.
I think it will be a boy (but could be wrong since it seems most of our friends are having girls)
Weight is hard to judge because I was told she would be small as well but she was 7lb 8oz which I have no clue where that came from as I only gained 19 lbs during pregnancy. So I think he/she will be about 7lb 5 oz.
Well with the pictures it is hard to tell if he/she will have hair, but I am sure a little of hair will be on your little one.
I for Katies sake hope he/she comes early :) . It gets miserable towards the end.

    What: Girl
    Possible Names: Mackenzie, Madison
    When: May 1
How much: 8 lbs 8 oz, 19 in
    Hair Length: 1 inch, blond

  17. GranMa | April 10, 2009 at 12:07 pm | Permalink

    OK — here’s my prediction:
A baby boy, April 26th, 7 lb. 10 oz, 21 inches. Oh yeah, the hair … lots of it. Blond, of course. About and inch and a half. :-)

  18. Heather Teichgraeber | April 22, 2009 at 12:12 pm | Permalink

So do we get a prize if we win? Or just the satisfaction of getting it right? Hehehe! And have you thought of anymore names.

Just some thoughts….Girl: Addison, Morgan…I can go on I have a whole list of names that I like that I have been writing down.

Boy: Nathan, Patrick, Michael, Zane, Blayne, Landon, Brandon.
