Turning Pages

Lucy’s favorite activity lately has been reading while sitting in our laps.  She will grab a book, bring it to one of us, hand it over, turn and flop down, then open it up.  Sometimes she “reads along” out loud, but most often we read while she handles the rapid-fire page turning.  Reading through the entire page or book isn’t her priority.  Rather, she seems to go for quantity, as she will skip a few pages, shut the book half-way through, grab it, stand up, retrieve another, bring it back, and repeat the cycle five more times.

I once watched a little girl about her age who would spend an hour pulling every book off the bookshelf, “reading” through it outloud in her baby language, and return it for the next one. Hilarious and adorable. Tell Lucy I miss dancing with her…
