The Big 2!!!

Lucy’s birthday has come and gone.  It was a bit of a whirlwind.  We had to play around with dates of the party last minute because Lucy, Ben, and Alice shared a nasty stomach bug that weekend.  But thankfully, everything turned out great, even though we had a small crowd.  Here are a few pics from the big day (which ended up happening on Mother’s Day).

New Words at Breakfast

Lucy and Katie

Mom:  “Oh Lucy, you just blew a big snot bubble.”
Lucy:  “Snot bubble… Snot bubble”
Mom:  (laughing)
Dad:  “Uhhh….”
Lucy:  (singing) “Snot bubble… snot bubble… SNOT… BUBBLE… SNOT…”
Mom:  (laughing more)
Dad:  “Great.”
Mom:  “She’ll forget it in five minutes.”
Lucy:  (louder) “SNOT…”

May the Fourth Be with You

Smiling LucyIt was two years ago when we started the day as two and ended the day as three.  It is hard to believe that our little “BOB” is two years old today.  She has changed so much, even in the last six months.  She has so much personality.  Her vocabulary is huge.  She sings all the time, and still dances constantly.  She is also quite sweet, with lots of kisses and hugs for the whole family (including the animals).  She is a big Astros fan, and can even name our favorite players on the team.  I am most amazed by her unending curiosity, her desire to learn, and her non-stop playfulness.  Katie and I are truly blessed to have such an amazing daughter.

Happy Birthday Lucy!

Big Screen Stars

image

We took a break from Sunday projects to go to the Astros game.  It was a great afternoon. The Astros played well offensively and defensively. Two pitchers were thrown out of the game for hitting batters.  The ump must have been in a bad mood.  The crowd loved it.  We got a free bobblehead of my favorite player, Michael Bourn. We scored excellent seats in the first row of our favorite section.  Lucy was so good throughout the game… except when she dropped her shoe on the people sitting in the section below us. She did give us both lots of snuggles, and learned to cheer for Katie’s favorite player, Hunter Pence. And, we were on the big screen.  The stadium just installed a new 124 foot wide HD screen (they call it El Grande), and we were featured prominently during “Deep in the Heart of Texas” in the 7th inning stretch.  Lucy loved seeing herself on the big TV.  Yeah, Katie and I were pretty excited too.

Scorched Earth

FlamingLawnEquipmentAs cute as Lucy is, and as much as people love her photos and videos, I received many more compliments on Patrick’s leg lamp than anything else.  So, for an encore, I have posted a photo of the custom paint job he did on his lawn equipment a while back.

For those of you who have never met my younger brother, you should know that he is an extremely creative guy.  Unlike me (all nerd), he is very artistically inclined.  Remember the dog statue at the wedding?  If I saw a mower and weed whacker looking tattered, I would think, “It’s lawn gear… so what.”  Patrick would say something like, “I don’t WANT to mow, but if I have to, I might as well have fun with it.”
