Our daughter, Lucy, was born on May 4, 2009. Prior to that day, we had no idea if we were having a boy or a girl. We also had not decided upon a name for the coming baby. So instead, we called the baby-to-be BOB.
”BOB” was the nickname we have given the baby until he or she decided to join us here in the air-breathing world. There are two explanations for the “BOB” moniker. Katie, in her practical and developing maternal way, says “BOB” is short for Baby On Board. Ben, using his often sardonic and usually inappropriate wit, decided that “BOB” is short for Big Ol’ Belly.
Although Lucy has now entered our lives and changed them forever, we will always look back with a smile when our Little Lucy was to us, BOB.
